Only one city could host a musical tribute that captures the spirit of the rock and roll born there. Only one city could deliver a fitting tribute to the song of the soul that is the blues. Come gather at the river and celebrate at the birthplace of the blues and the home of rock & roll, Memphis, Tennessee. 

Over 60 acts on 4 stages in scenic Tom Lee Park where Beale Street meets the Mississippi. This, in addition to the artists performing in clubs along Beale Street, offers music lovers an opportunity to immerse themselves in the art form they love best. 

Beale Street Music Festival was nominated for a 1999 Concert Industry Award for the Music Festival of The Year, and was named by Playboy Magazine as one of the Fun 2000 events - a "must-do list" for the new millennium. The festival also hosted media such as VH1, Rolling Stone, MTV, Billboard, Cashbox, Pollstar, National Geographic, the BBC and dozens of other national publications, international television networks and blues publications. 

Past performers include these greats: B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ray Charles, Beck, Van Morrison, ZZ Top, Al Green, Dave Mathews Band, John Lee Hooker, Sheryl Crow, Booker T & the MG's, Alber King, Widespread Panic, Etta James, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Wilson Pickett, Hootie and the Blowfish, James Cotton, Blues Traveler, Bobby Blue Bland, Black Crowes, Ziggy Marley, the Allman Brothers Band and many more.

The festival celebrates Memphis Music and in '99 offered a tribute to Stax Records performers - Eddie Floyd, the Bar-Kays, Wilson Pickett and Booker T and the MG's. There was also a salute to Sun Records with performers Billy Lee Riley and the Sun Allstars.
